Encouraged by a love of reading, inspired by her ancestors and historical figures, and emboldened by a love of children and their healthy expression and being, Jessica Sally founded The Brownie Collective to re-produce The Brownies' Book and other forms of media. With a goal of large impact, she has worked her way from tutoring sessions in her Harlem neighborhood to teaching in K- 12 classrooms to influencing Pre-K for All policy with quantitative data analysis to managing tech projects at the US Dream Academy and Sesame Workshop. Jessica earned her B.A. from Stetson University in Political Science and American Studies, minor in Education. After her fellowship at Match Charter Public High School she, in 2014, she earned a M.A. from Brown University in Urban Education Policy. Jessica completed a Creator-in-Residence at Kickstarter, and has launched two campaigns. She is currently raising seed capital.

Dr. Eric Shed
Dr. Eric H. Shed is lecturer on education and director of the Harvard Teacher Fellows Program. Prior to coming to HGSE, Shed was the director of secondary history/social studies education at Brown University. He received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teacher Education from Stanford University, and has also served as a methods instructor at New York University, and with the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP). His current research also reflects this commitment; he is the lead investigator on a Library of Congress funded project exploring how K-12 educators can use primary sources to teach local history.
Dr. Michele Shannon
Michele has been a teacher, school social worker, assistant principal, and principal in the NewYork City Department of Education. She founded Pathways College Preparatory School in New York City. Michele was a member of the inaugural cohort of the Doctor of Educational Leadership program at Harvard Graduate School of Education. While at Harvard, she co-founded Pursue Excellence, LLC, a low-profit education reform organization dedicated to supporting schools and districts in their use of data to improve outcomes for students.
Jason Reynolds is crazy. About stories. After earning a BA in English from The University of Maryland, College Park, he moved to Brooklyn, New York, where you can often find him walking the four blocks from the train to his apartment talking to himself. Well, not really talking to himself, but just repeating character names and plot lines he thought of on the train, over and over again, because he’s afraid he’ll forget it all before he gets home. Jason is the author of critically acclaimed When I Was the Greatest, for which he was the recipient of the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe Award for New Talent; the Coretta Scott King Honor books Boy in the Black Suit and All American Boys (cowritten with Brendan Kiely); and As Brave as You, his middle grade debut. Ernest A. Logan worked for nearly 25 years in the NYC public schools, many of them as a CSA member, before taking a leave of absence to join CSA’s staff in 1997 as a field service representative. Rising through the ranks, he was elected President in November 2006 by acclamation and again in November 2009. His second three-year term as CSA’s 13th President began on Feb. 1, 2010. He is now the President of the American Federation of Teachers.
