The Brownie Collective
The Brownie Collective is a recently founded 501(C)3 innovation lab where media and technology meet research and policy. The Brownie Collective is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to innovative transformation in the education and child development sectors that is data-driven, technological, digital, political, cultural and art, simultaneously. Working on in-house transmedia project and product development, The Brownie Collective will become a mecca for collaborative and innovative events, research, projects, and as change agents on phenomena that impact economically and socially disadvantaged children and communities.
Foremost, we will dig into what utopian learning and schooling environments do students envision. The goal is to futuristically expound or transform the prevailing ideas and characteristics of teaching, learning, literacy, and numeracy in the current and future digital and global economy. Our inaugural projects are The Brownies' Book (magazine), Beast Brownies (transmedia series), Levitate (multimedia educational software), and BlkGirlhood (interactive research exhibit). These are all projects all belong to the media and tech industries and utilize some form of animation, augmented reality (AR), documentary filmmaking, gaming, motion capture (3D interactive), multi-disciplinary, projects across platforms, narrative filmmaking, post-production, or virtual reality (VR).
